چکیده

This paper aims to show the application of site-specific response spectra in analysis buildings that are supported by lightly reinforced precast concrete walls. Previous surveys on load-bearing walls multi-storey low-to-moderate seismic regions have found many existing with a connection reinforcement ratio less than wall ratio. When these subjected reversed cyclic loads, lateral is typically controlled rocking and ultimate performance governed ruptures dowels. uses moment–curvature analyses combination plastic hinge evaluate force–displacement capacity planar The building can then be assessed superimposing curve inelastic developed for site. proposed analytical approach illustrated through case study building. By comparing comparable limited ductile wall, it also that, although two exhibit similar force capacities, displacement significantly lower. finding highlights potential vulnerability some buildings.

Design of Hybrid Precast Concrete Walls for Seismic Regions

This paper presents an ongoing research project on the behavior and design of “hybrid” precast concrete wall structures for use in seismic regions. Hybrid precast walls utilize a combination of mild (e.g., Grade 60) steel and high-strength unbonded post-tensioning (PT) steel for flexural resistance across horizontal joints. The mild steel reinforcement is designed to yield in tension and compre...

Seismic Displacement Demands for Hybrid Precast Concrete Shear Walls

This paper presents an analytical investigation on the peak lateral displacement demands of “hybrid” precast concrete panelized shear wall structures under seismic loading. The hybrid wall structure investigated uses a combination of mild [i.e., Grade 400 (U.S. Grade 60)] steel bars and highstrength unbonded post-tensioning (PT) strands for lateral resistance across horizontal joints. The analy...

Experimental Study on Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Frame Columns Supported with Post-build Wing Walls

Abstract: Six specimens of concrete frame columns reinforced by post-build wing walls on the opposite faces were designed and fabricated to investigate their seismic performance. Axial compression ratio was considered as the critical factor and divided into 0.31, 0.36, and 0.40 before reinforcement. HRB400 steel grade was used to the longitudinal bar and the ratio of longitudinal reinforcement ...

Simulation of Nonlinear Seismic Response of Reinforced Concrete Structural Walls

In this study the performance of three macro-models in predicting the nonlinear response of different walls is investigated. The macro-models used are: Equivalent Beam Model, Multiple Vertical Line Element Model and a shear panel model developed by Massone et al. (2006). The walls are classified as slender, intermediate, and squat walls according to their shear-span ratio. First, three single w...

Probabilistic assessment of the seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings

The main objective of this article is to assess the expected seismic damage in reinforced concrete buildings from a probabilistic point of view by using Monte Carlo simulation. To do that, the seismic behavior of the building is studied by using random capacity obtained by considering the mechanical properties of the materials as random variables. Starting from the capacity curves, one can obta...
